Those indie vibes just can’t seem to escape Sheffield with indie-rock bands like The N.S.O releasing new tracks but this band sound a little different from all the others.
Sunday Club is the brand new track from this four-piece band and as indie as it sounds, there is certainly a hint of a ska-punk like instrumental with the drums having a drum beat similar to something The Specials/The Clash/Madness would have in their tracks. This is different, it’s a cool twist and I absolutely LOVE this. It makes me want to get up and start skanking. I can only imagine how this band’s live performances blow the roof off anywhere they play.
As soon as the track starts, I could hear a similar opening to The Clash’s London Calling, which is extremely uncommon these days. I don’t think I have heard a song that sounds like that iconic track, but this one certainly does open up the same. The vocals start to kick in not too long after, with the vocalist sounding similar to Alex Turner proving those early 2000s indie vibes haven’t been forgotten.
About two minutes into the track, the instrumental starts to fade away from how it started and is a lot more rockier. It gets a lot more dancey and then comes back full circle, the instrumental finishes just like it started. These four lads have certainly got a sound of their own as I cannot think of a band that has a unique sound like theirs, yes it’s certainly a mash up of other bands, but they have put their own twist on things and made it their own.
The N.S.O are headlining the Alder Bar in Sheffield on 14 November at 9PM, be sure to get down and check out this unique band. You’ll certainly be in for a treat!
