After a hectic first twelve months as a band, The Radio Addicts’ sophomore single ‘Before My Eyes’ shows just why they find themselves selling out records like its nobody’s business.
A track riddled with anthemic guitars and teen spirit (not the deodorant), Bolton’s very own show just why frontman Luke Cardwell has already had interaction with The Lottery Winners and Bruce Springsteen himself.
The vibes are electric from the off, punchy guitars and raw energy grab your attention and remind you of the vast bands that cramped the indie scene twenty years ago. The vocals kick in next and although very raw and resembling very little classical training, the energy and songwriting prowess is there to be ran with.
Sonically similar to old-school northern bands and new generation indie, their sound is like The Chats if they were from Bolton and not the sunshine coast. High intensity musicianship, witty lyricism and ounces of charisma, age and experience will take this band from something promising to something current.
The Radio Addicts have all of the ingredients to make something special here, reminiscent of the bands that sparked my interest in music and still they are so young.
Yes, it is rough around the edges right now and the recording isn’t fully reflective of their talent, but it won’t be for long I’m sure. A proper indie song that will undoubtedly mature into something bigger, just be patient.
