TALK THE STAAGS ARTWORK

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM THE STAAG’S -TALK

Young Lancashire band The Staag’s have already had a busy 2026 already looking on their social media, a string of support slots, gigs, festivals and even a battle of the bands competition around the North West, as well as releasing their last single “World Of War” in February, so it’s clear that the band have been working hard on building their music catalogue and following.

“Talk” is their latest release, it’s got a very quiet energy at the beginning and then all of a sudden this burst of music just comes at you, an impressive, fast, drumbeat and guitar riffs that send you into surprise.

The vocals kick in and sear right through the instrumental and with the energy having what I can only describe as consistent adrenaline – I imagine it’s difficult to achieve, but it’s been mastered beautifully – and if they can do it live, even more so impressive.

There is a sublime 10 second solo of guitar solo about two thirds of the way in that hooked me back in even when I didn’t need it, they are definitely experimenting with their sound, as this gives a mix of rock, indie, even an injection of metal in places, but they do use all of those elements together very well.

They’re a relatively young band, and you can hear it a bit in the vocals, which isn’t a criticism at all, but I imagine they will only get better as they grow, the musicianship overall already is incredibly impressive to be coming up with something like this.

The only criticism I have is that the end is quite abrupt, I’d have liked a better fade out personally after so much energy, that said, it may work as part of an EP or album where it is a bit more consistent flow when playing.

Overall, an impressive introduction to The Staags, they clearly have a lot of hunger for what they do and a lot of passion, you can hear it in the music and they seem to be putting their all into it from what I can see – a very solid start.
