THE VANITIES - THE END OF LOVE

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM THE VANITIES – THE END OF LOVE

Cardiff based band, The Vanities have a new single out, titled The End of Love and it’s a proper good one. Get ready to be blown away by the sheer greatness this track manages to pack in. If you want to go back in time to the good old 80’s, you’ll definitely love it, and if you just appreciate a cracking tune, this one is for you too.

The End of Love starts in a way that not a lot of songs do; with a groovy saxophone intro. It instantly gives you the impression that you are in for a groovy and dancey four minutes with this funky number. There’s also a bit of vocalising, which really sets off the instrumentals and grabs your attention, refusing to let go.

The saxophone, perhaps disappointingly, cuts out for the time being, and is instead replaced by synth-like background noises that give it that very 80’s influenced sound. You could definitely mistake it for a track from that era with the electronic pop feel. Although it is firmly in that genre, there are elements of the song that give it a punch of rock as well, namely the drum and guitar that really gets the beat going.

The vocals within the track are soft and easy to listen to, which does help with its universal appeal. The vocals also compliment the upbeat rhythm and general good vibes of the instruments.

Everything works so well together, particularly the final part. As the saxophone makes a welcome return, and the main vocals continue to sing the title over and over, the addition of female vocals layered gives the listener a lot to focus on. They are all put over each other and it gives it the perfect effect of everything culminating to an epic end. The outro fades out as well, giving you as much time as possible with the song before it eventually disappears, rounding the track off seamlessly.
