Bolton’s Velvetines continue their rise with another top tune to add to their small but impressive catalogue, Untitled. The weight of their growing reputation is clearly not hanging too heavy around their necks as they continue to not only hold their own, but improve release on release.
Already establishing themselves as an RGM favourite, Untitled only furthers their claim to being one of the most exciting new bands of today. A fierce indie rock n roll track, it brims with the energetic brilliance we have so quickly become used to from them. Piercing guitar riffs come and go throughout, battling for space with the equally aggressive vocals to create a real rollercoaster of a sound.
In our review for their last release, Where Do You Go, we emphasised how they had showcased a different side to their sound by holding back some of their rawness and pushing their lyricism. On this occasion, they have gone the other way. In what feels like a major release of energy after holding back a little last time out, this is their most powerful track yet.
Even if you haven’t experienced one of their shows yet, simply hearing their tracks you yearn to see these guys live. Their whole sound lends itself so perfectly to a live setting, where the crowds raucousness is brilliantly matched by the bend themselves. With that in mind, we are delighted to have them supporting Mercy Kelly at our next RGM Live event, on Saturday 20th September at Gullivers in Manchester. Its one not to be missed.
Untitled is simply another step in what we’re sure will be a long and exciting journey for The Velvetines. With each single they expand their horizons, constantly proving any doubters wrong and adding to their ever expanding fanbase. Long may it continue.
