TOM COLLINS - SCARS

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM TOM COLLINS – SCARS

Scars is the latest single from Tom Collins, and the singer songwriter from Wales has absolutely smashed it out the park with his one. His second single of the year, Scars has an energy to it that you can’t ignore. A true gem of a song.
Scars is a peppy, bouncy, punchy song. It’s fun sounding with a Wombats-like quality to it, both in vocal stylings and general musicality. It’s also a short, snappy and memorable composition that will get your head bopping and a singalong started in no time.

One of the reasons for this is likely because the lyrics are repetitive, especially in the chorus. This of course emphasises and highlights the main part of the track and relays the themes of the words being sung. In this instance the lyrics are about someone who doesn’t treat their partner right and said partner needs to get out of the relationship.

This will definitely resonate with some and the realness and relatability of this will mean the song will be an even bigger hit with audiences. However, if you aren’t really paying attention to the lyrics, trust me, you will still appreciate what a tune it is.

The title, Scars, is only mentioned once during the song. Quite unusually,  it appears most of the way through the first verse. This allows the title to not be exhausted and makes its single use hit harder.

With a snare that delivers a punchy quality to give it its upbeat sound and a simple structure that helps with its easy listening, there are many factors that mean that Tom Collins’ new track is brilliant.

Tom already has multiple songs to his name, and Scars is another great addition to the repertoire. Due to support Jamie Webster in November at EH6 festival, Tom Collins is becoming a name you will certainly recognise. And tracks like Scars make it very obvious why. It’s only deserving really.
