WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM UKRAINIAN BAND POLYVODA

I love to see music coming out of Kyiv, Ukraine, interodcing POLYVODA, they emerge with their latest single, “Homeless,” a sonic lathen tune boldly marries spoken word poetry with a rapidly evolving drum beat.

The Ukrainian band showcase a unique blend of cultural influences and avant-garde experimentation, setting the stage for a compelling musical experience.

“Homeless” opens with an arresting spoken word delivery that serves as a lyrical centerpiece. The vocal cadence, delivered with an impassioned intensity, weaves a narrative that explores the theme of displacement and the quest for identity. Against this lyrical backdrop, the fast-evolving drum beat takes center stage, creating a sonic whirlwind that mirrors the chaotic journey depicted in the verses.

The band’s decision to embrace spoken word as a primary vocal style adds a layer of authenticity and urgency to “Homeless.”

The delivery, a melodic yet assertive commentary, places the listener in the midst of a poetic conversation.

As the A-side concludes, the listener is treated to the energetic and concise B-side, “Bonfire.” Clocking in with brevity, this track wastes no time in delivering its sonic punch. The fast-paced composition is a stark contrast to the contemplative nature of “Homeless,” showcasing POLYVODA’s versatility.

Both tracks on this single showcase POLYVODA’s ability to experiment and descover their sound. The fusion of genres and cultural influences creates a force to be reckoned within the international music scene, delivering a single that demands attention and appreciation for its fearless innovation.
