VAN ROYALE - COMING AFTER YOU

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM VAN ROYALE – COMING AFTER YOU

Most iconic four piece band from Liverpool? It has to be the Beatles, right? Well Van Royale are fighting to steal that title, and with tracks like ‘Coming After You’ which is their latest single, they could be well on their way. The band, who are of course from Liverpool, have just a handful of tracks under their belt at the moment, but they are certainly showing potential to be big.

Wasting no time at all, the song enters and introduces us to the instrumentals that remain a constant throughout. This rocky beat is relatively simple, but makes you want to move your body regardless with its groovy, classic rock sound. Every part of the sound is a hook, no part stands out more than the rest. That’s the sign of a great track.

It gives off Noel Gallagher vibes, somewhat reminiscent of AKA… What A Life, in that there is this kind of melancholic undertone to the catchiness of the track. That said, it has its own completely unique sound that will give Van Royale their identity. Coming After You is significantly shorter than the aforementioned track as well, keeping things compact and leaving you wanting more.

In terms of the vocals, the range is incredible, hitting higher notes at the end of each line in the verses. This gives variation and also makes it that bit more melodic and catchy. The vocals are also quite raspy, and at times sound strained with the emotion being pumped into the track. It sounds brilliant, and ensures the singing is just as memorable as the instrumentals.

Talking of instrumentals, the guitar solo that leads the song out is typical of the genre, but in this track sounds just as great as the rest of the song. Really emphasising the talents of the band by demonstrating what they can do with their instruments is the perfect way to end everything.
