WATTMORE

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE FROM WATTMORE – I DON’T MISS THAT WOMAN

Wattmore’s I Don’t Miss That Woman is one of those tracks that rolls up in a dusty ute, leaves tyre marks on your lawn, and makes no apologies. It’s rough, rootsy, and ragged in all the right places — a breakup anthem that’s equal parts smirk and scar tissue. Straight outta Brisbane, the brotherly duo behind Wattmore have bottled something sharp and singed with just enough twang to make you think of open highways and bad decisions made with good intentions.

From the first chord, you know you’re in for something honest. This isn’t the kind of breakup song that’s weepy or self-pitying. It’s defiant. It’s got that knowing grin, like someone who’s walked through hell, come out barefoot, and still wouldn’t take her back if she called.

Musically, it rides somewhere between Steve Earle’s storytelling and the dry stomp of modern folk-rock. The guitar tone is warm, but with a crackle underneath, like there’s still embers burning from whatever fight went down before the track started recording. There’s a looseness to the rhythm that works — it feels real, not lab-grown in a Nashville studio trying to sound “authentic.”

Lyrically, it’s got bite without trying to be poetic for the sake of it. There’s no sugar-coating. It’s the kind of song you’d belt out at the tail end of a long pub session, or hear blasting from an old ute parked outside a servo at midnight. There’s something refreshing about how unapologetically it owns its space — no trend-chasing, no trying to cross over.

There’s a point where it teeters on full catharsis but holds back. You’re left wanting just a bit more grit, maybe a solo that doesn’t just simmer but actually explodes. Because the fire’s clearly there — it just doesn’t quite catch all the way through. Also, while the production feels raw in a good way.

Still, that’s nitpicking. I Don’t Miss That Woman isn’t here to be polite. It’s here to kick up dust, slam the door on its way out, and ride off without looking back.
