Swedish duo ZKIN have released a new track so majestic, it feels as though you’re transported through time and space. Breaking Me Down is the band’s first single since 2023 and may I say, it is a dark electronic anthem that you will not be able to get enough of.
Jonas and Malin are the extraordinary musicians that make up ZKIN. Having started out in 2023 as a studio project, the duo gained many fans and are about to embark on shows together, showcasing their remarkable talent to fans of anything darkwave and experimental. This band captured my attention as soon as I heard their intro to their new song; it gives major Gary Numan vibes and I absolutely love hearing anything synth-like!
The song sounds like something out of the Matrix movies, it has that gloomy, enchanting aura to it that just lets you escape reality for a few minutes. Malin’s vocals are soothing, softly spoken and fit the song perfectly – her voice is extremely unique.
It’s as if an angel is whispering to you, the lyrics are just so ethereal. The instrumental contains different instruments that are flawlessly mastered together. This song truly is like nothing I have heard for a while. I can’t get enough of it. It is so different to hear but replicates the 90s electronic era.
You can really hear the band’s influences such as Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and Massive Attack – just by listening to Breaking Me Down you can just tell that this band is bringing back those much needed electronic experimental songs that this day and age is unrightfully missing.
