A contemporary pop song with a gorgeous folk-pop arrangement, Natalie Clark’s vocals are easily up there with the best I’ve heard this week.
Capturing a hopeful, romantic style in her songwriting, the track is an empowering single fuelled with comforting lyrics.
Something the world can listen to and instantly feel better, the track is filled with uplifting melodies and one hell of a singer.
It comes as no surprise to me that Richard Branson, Blake Shelton & Christina Aguilera all champion this vocalist.
The actual production of this track lets the song down slightly for me personally. It felt too safe and like it was trying to be something it was not. If it was stripped back to its roots of Natalie’s stunning vocals and the bones of the neo-soul structure, I think it could have elevated the song further.
Nevertheless, that’s not me saying the production isn’t good. It’s far from that. It’s excellent. It glistens in the summer sun and showcases Natalie’s clarity in her vocals. To me, it just felt slightly outdated.
Natalie has a subtle rasp in her vocal tone that is absolutely mesmerising and can really be heard when she sings ‘knock you down’.
I think my favourite thing about this song is the honesty and emotion. You can hear Natalie is not only singing this song to her fans but also to herself. Sometimes, we just need a guiding light, or a shoulder to cry on.
This song is that for me. Thank you, Natalie.
