LIES, LIES, LIES!' BY SUNSET SURRENDER

WE REVIEW THE NEW SINGLE ‘LIES, LIES, LIES!’ BY SUNSET SURRENDER

Ethereal, haunting and leaving listeners under the Sunset Surrender’s spell, ‘Lies, Lies Lies!’ encapsulates raw vulnerability with a poignant reflection of personal encounters.

A powerful dream-pop offering with a subtle post-punk feel to its heart. It sounds like a MODERN version of New Order or their ancestor’s Joy Division.

Influenced by legendary bands such as The Cure, Joy Division, New Order, and Depeche Mode, Sunset Surrender’s sound uniquely blends nostalgia and modern sensibilities.

A touch of shoegaze thrown into the mix creates something that feels both familiar and new. It’s a testament to the artist’s ability to his boundaries and new sonic landscapes.

For those who have been tracking the journey from his earlier moniker, The Golden Hour, this release marks a pivotal shift. Both in terms of musical direction and personal evolution.

In some places, the vocal melody felt a bit too safe. The production is out of this world and carries a gorgeous undertone, but I felt the vocals weren’t as powerful as the concept.

The arrangement and the dynamics stay the same throughout, giving a very limited progression.

Saying that, the overall concept and evocative feel of this song are undeniable and could easily get Sunset Surrender’s name. The production truly carries this single to a higher level. There are insecurities in the vocals and poignant energy.
