My go-to-genre will always be dream-pop and shoegaze, “Two Socks” ticks those boxes. KIN TALA are a different type of indie group, you can hear a lot of diverse set of influences in their sound.
A bold number that clears states to sit back and listen to every pin-drop in the single, ‘Two Socks’ requires your full attention.
The best thing about the song is that your gaze doesn’t wander. You will want to sit back and take it all in.
To me, the song felt a little short. It could have been enhanced with a further bridge or a pre-chorus. It felt like the dynamics stayed the same throughout the number and didn’t quite escalate into a fierce song.
In places, the vocals seem a bit mixed low and don’t come through as prominent as hoped.
Saying that, I love the production. The aura of the track is breathtaking and fits perfectly in the indie world at the moment.
Sound-wise, it’s hard to completely put these guys into a category. You can hear elements of Ben Howard’s music but also iconic indie bands such as FOALS.
You can hear congas, brass, hip-hop beats, strings, and keys inspired by different times and places, layered into an indie sound.
This duo blends a gorgeous, rich taste and makes it a perfect listen for the summer. Headphones on, sat on a sun-lounger or on the grass in your garden overlooking the sky, watching planes fly past and you listen to the life, you’re thinking… life’s good.
