Jeff ‘The Fish’ Lefroy - Sunset

WE REVIEW THE NEW TRACK BY JEFF LEFROY – SUNSET

Jeff ‘The Fish’ Lefroy brings musicianship and a familiar sound with new release ‘Sunset’. Without a doubt you hear the Hendrix and Fleetwood Mac influence in this track.

The first riff leans heavy into that bluesy, nostalgic world. It feels carefree but fully in control. While the organ and the groove set the tone perfectly for a hazy summer sunset. The bouncy acoustic guitar and soft drums combine to provide that bittersweet mix of melancholy and hope.

Undoubtedly the instrumental has a lot to love here. The music is tight, the riffs have character, however I was a little let down overall with the vocals. A few shaky notes pull you out of the moment and distract you from the things that really shine. I feel there was a better take in there that could have taken the whole song to a different level.

That said, stick with it and there is a payoff. As we creep towards the end of the final chorus, the ‘adlibs’ creep in and give the song a cheeky lift. There’s sass, and likewise a confidence,  it makes the outro shine and the guitar solo is just brilliant.

Overall, it’s a solid tune. Fun, soulful, and brimming with little flashes of brilliance. Even if their is areas for improvement, it’s simply a real song by real musicians. It’s living in the moment, unapologetically itself. With a full album in the works, it will be exciting to see what Jeff does next.
