AYAL - LOVE BOMB

WE REVIEW THE NEW TRACK FROM ÁYAL – LOVE BOMB

New York based non-binary artist Áyal gives us the first taste of their upcoming debut EP ‘Catharsis’  with the release of powerful new track ‘Love Bomb’.

Emerging from the city’s musical theatre scene, Áyal (pronounced EYE-yahl) takes inspiration from this background along with a heady mix of other genres including rock, pop, jazz and soul – and this first offering from the act certainly packs a punch.

Lyrically ‘Love Bomb’ explores the trials of a toxic relationship, one in which a partner showers you with extreme affection in order to gain control. It’s a manipulative tactic that can often sneak up on you before you realise.“While he kisses your lips / You don’t hear the tick…”

Speaking on the track, Áyal said “I wanted to create a song that spoke to this specific form of emotional abuse. I could not have been the first one to have wanted to scream and cry and belt my heart out over a man who toyed with my affections. I was inspired by the phrase ‘all is fair in love in love and war.’ But then I realized that, in truth, nothing is fair in love or war. And both can be equally destructive.”

Blending a gorgeous mix of electric guitar licks, a peppy back beat and an incredibly rich vocal delivery – ‘Love Bomb’ is a tonic of a track. A creative outlet turning pain into strength and giving back the power to those of us who have fallen victim. Despite it’s nearly four minute runtime, you’re still left wanting more.

Having been fuelled by their real life experiences, there’s a definite authenticity to this release from Áyal. An empowering ‘call to arms’ that we all deserve better than be subject to such emotional warfare. It’s pop, it’s glam rock, it’s theatre. It’s fantastic.
