WE REVIEW THE NEW TRACK FROM ROBERT O’CONNER – SEPARATE WAYS

Irish-born and based solo artist Robert O’Conner’s latest single “Separate Ways” is a dance/electronic ballad with catchy beats and O’Conner’s typically soulful vocals.

Robert O’Connor has consistently impressed critics with his versatile and smooth-flowing musical style and his grasp on rhythm. His previously released EP “Severance” showed the solo artist finding his own defining sound and his latest single “Separate Ways” shows O’Conner continuing to utilise his talents in creating melodic electro-pop/dance beats.

Having had his music score a multitude of consecutive hits on the LGBTQ Music Chart, with “Separate Ways” it’s not hard to see why. Almost immediately the track sounds like something you could hear playing in the height of the night at a vibrant gay bar as streams of light flash overhead. This hazy, club atmosphere created by soaring electronic instrumentals and a catchy hook instantly transport the listener to an upbeat environment.

Optimistic lyrics about allowing a parting with someone to happen and accepting when something is over are refreshing in comparison to the typically negative reflections on this in modern pop music, instead, O’Conner’s take is one that embraces change. With the autotune on the heartfelt vocals of the track adding a playful touch, “Separate Ways” is a delightfully fun track that fits perfectly into the dance/pop genre.
