RGM is going international for this review, hopping over to Esbjerg, a city in Denmark!
2-piece Glimtvis, brought out this single “I Wish I Was In Love” back in March 2026 and I knew before even listening that the music was going to be relatable, purely because the artwork depicts a scrumbled bit of paper with a old school graffiti heart with “love” written in the middle, you know the type, the one you used to scribble on your schoolbooks (or desks if you were more rebellious) as a teen – whilst in black and white.
It starts with a catchy drumbbeat, and a glisten of guitar, quite a slow feel to ease in, which works, and then the vocals slowly chime in, which at first are deep and overpower the backing track perfectly, but then the second lot comes in and they blend together beautifully.
The lyrics are very poigont and reflective, wishing for their love to stay, wanting more or just ultimately that happy ending that everyone dreams of at somepoint.
It’s got quite a dark, almost eerie shadow to the instrumental, but honestly, it does work well.
After a couple of listens, it does almost feel like there is a different side to each vocalist, which is incredibly clever, I rated that a lot.
It’s the perfect length for the type of track it is, and it blends out beautifully, slowly fading away, it has got a certain charm to it.
Overall a brilliant song with some clever messaging, lyrics baring all and a soft, rocky and melancholic instrumental that you can’t help but be charmed by.
