With soothing tones and a blend of country and pop-rock, Best Company immediately catches your ear. Reminiscent of Hootie & the Blowfish with a touch of Bob Dylan, it exudes an easygoing charm that’s hard to ignore.
The debut single certainly does a great job of establishing the bands sound. That said, the start could use a bit more punch, as the vocal hits, it don’t quite grab you as it should. You want to feel every word, belief is what carries you through. Meanwhile there isn’t anything else going on to really immerse you, so you are left a little uncertain.
However, the song does find its footing. The harmonies kick in, and a distinct guitar tone adds a unique layer that draws you in. A short while later, you’re fully immersed, and it’s impossible not to have a smile on your face. Close your eyes, and you’re suddenly transported to winding country roads with your favorite people. Hence the name – ‘Best Company’. A moment of pure, feel-good escapism.
While I wish the track hit its stride a little sooner, once it does, it’s thoroughly enjoyable. It’s a pleasant, uplifting listen that conveys its message clearly. It might start off slow, which could risk losing some listeners, but it’s well worth sticking with—it’s the kind of song that brightens your day. And honestly, who couldn’t use a little more of that?
