We Three caused quite a stir at Manchester Academy two on Thursday evening. The three-piece band made up of alternative popster siblings Bethany, Joshua and Manny plunged the academy into near darkness, alarming some audience members as the smoke machines earned their keep.
A red glow filled the stage and a solitary masked figure made an entrance, carrying a red heart shaped balloon, the masked stranger calmly walked off stage and handed it to an unsuspecting audience member (said balloon was subsequently confiscated by over zealous security, which ruined the am-dram slightly), but nevertheless certainly an opener to remember.
The band found fame on series thirteen of America’s Got Talent, wowing the judges with a heart felt song paying tribute to their mother. That was five years ago, fast forward to the present and the band have garnered a huge intentional following, and it would seem that Manchester is included in that fan base.
The bond onstage with these guys is obvious. The crowd screamed their way through the upbeat tracks, including songs from their latest release ‘Love Me’. Front man Manny displayed talent playing multiple instruments, including some impressive trumpet on track ‘Full Time Job’. There was also a number of impressive bass solos from Bethany who often took centre stage.
One of the crowd pleasers was certainly the track from a few years ago ‘Heaven’s Not Too Far’. The band pride themselves on sending out messages of positive mental health, it’s wholesome and positive, the audience lapping up every word from a band who clearly adore their fans.
