WET LEG RETURN TO MANCHESTER – READ ALL ABOUT THEIR SOLD OUT SHOW HERE!

Wet Leg have gone from strength to strength, and their latest tour has been a hot ticket in what could be described as a very manic week for the Manchester music scene. So many gigs this week and a fair few on tonight, but it seems that this gig at the o2 Victoria Warehouse is the ONE to be at.

The support act Mary in the Junkyard seemed slightly blown away by the large crowd and were clearly stoked to be supporting such a prestigious band as Wet Leg, but they held their own and as the set went on they seemed to grow in confidence and self belief, warming up the crowd with a solid selection of tracks. Their style was dream like synch, fuzzy and whimsical but also a little punk in places that held it all together. I feel like these guys will be featuring a little more on line-ups over the next year.

Wet Leg appeared on stage in vast amounts of smoke, to the point where it took a good minute or so to see that it was actually them on stage. The smoke and strobes kept coming, making for a dazzling display which sort of took away from the actual music. By track three the on stage effects had subdued somewhat and it was easier to hear and see why this band have made such an impact on so many.

Hailing from the Isle of Wight and fronted by Rhian Teasdale who looked very much like a rockstar this evening with plenty of swagger and stage presence, with the rest of the band a little more composed in the background. The vocals were excellent and the whole image works. The band had me fully sold by track three ‘Wet Dream’ and the audience were screaming along with Teasdale, adding to the chaotic frenzied mood that had been bubbling over since the band entered the stage.

Wet Leg have won numerous accolades for their songs, and of course ‘Chaise Longue’ received a huge reaction from the audience, one of those songs that sticks in your head for days on end after hearing it. The band completed their set with ‘CPR’ and all too soon the evening drew to a close. There was a buzz in the air as fans left the venue, clearly a little more invigorated than they were just a few hours previous!
